ABOUT
The Cultural Center Library is home
to the top “best seller” books and a
nice quiet place to read.
Opened in 2001 to unanimous praise
and gratitude from the community,
the Cultural Center was built and is
entirely supported by the generosity
of Ocean Reef Club members. It is an
independent facility totally funded
by private donations and is a 501c(3)
corporation. The Center’s gracious
architecture is home to a 300-seat
theater, a library, a museum, meeting
rooms, a courtyard, Compass Dining
Room and new in 2021, large concerts
which are held outdoors on the
grounds.
The Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art
theater presents live performances,
motion pictures, live simulcasts of the
Metropolitan Operas, and thoughtprovoking lectures.
The Compass Room is used for preperformance dinners, lectures, and
private events.
A charming 900-square-foot museum
chronicling Ocean Reef’s history and
offering self-guided tours, is a ‘mustsee’ for all guests visiting Ocean Reef.
Located on the Center’s property,
circa 1947 – 1951, is one of the original
free-standing motel units used for
the visiting yachtsmen. Designated
a ‘Historical and Cultural Landmark’
by the Monroe County Board of
Commissioners and is available to
tour.
